I have a halter bred ApHC who has had more than one genetic/conformation aspect give him some trouble. He’s got white socks, thin soles, minor navicular, and chronic pain between his SI and lumbar. To his detriment he was trained WP and I’ve been in the process of undoing that and training him in correct biomechanics. Despite that, his poor immune system causes cellulitis at the smallest scratch on his white socks, he’s basically crippled on stones and gravel and can’t keep a shoe on though a whole cycle to save his life, and his chronic back pain leaves him sore after every ride (in part, I'm sure, due to his poor hooves).
I found this company while I was trying to find a way, any way, to get his cellulitis down from a case of chronic scratches that I just couldn’t get rid of. At one time I thought he was going to end up in the ICU because he’d had cellulitis for 3 months and I just couldn’t get the swelling down for long. In comes Immune. This product let me get his scratches under control and his cellulitis was much easier to resolve after that. Now, even when he does get a cut or a small case of scratches, he doesn’t swell up like a ballon. It’s made a huge difference in his overall immune response to irritations on his legs.
A few months ago I realized I needed something different when his chronic tenderness over his back and SI was just staying consistent and not slowly getting better as I had hoped. I called the company and got their recommendation for Lean Muscle. Knowing the success I had with Immune I bought it despite the high price tag (I believe this is this most, or second most, expensive supplement they offer) and hoped for the best. Two weeks after starting I noticed he was no longer tensing under pressure when I checked his back, and even after a training session or a trail ride he had little to no reaction to palpation. The deciding event for me where I knew beyond a doubt that this product worked was when I took him for a ride up a mountain for the toughest trail ride he has done to date. Scaling rocks, maneuvering through boulders going basically straight down. I took his saddle off at the end and he was bowing under the smallest pressure as I checked his back. I legitimately thought I broke my horse and he was going to require weeks of rest and therapy (PEMF, laser, chiro, myofascial) to get back on his feet to only start from square one again. To my complete surprise he was pretty much entirely pain free when I checked him the next morning. He never would have been rideable for at least a week before I started this product. I could have hopped on that next day with how nicely he recovered.
After the success of the other two products I decided to get one more a try, Strength and Stamina. His hooves are horrible and always will be. I fight to keep the .8cm sole he has. QH people, especially halter bred QH people, will know this is a common struggle with these guys. He has mild navicular changes that aren’t a problem yet, but I’d like to keep it that way. He was completely crippled at one point in Scoot Boots with pads. He spent a winter in shoes just to get him comfortable enough to even try going barefoot again. Going back barefoot was mostly a success, but he was still sensitive even in boots a majority of the time, regardless of footing. Out in pasture he often looked like a decrepit old man with a cane, hobbling along and only moving when he needed to. Two weeks seems to be the magic number here. Two weeks and I started noticing him moving more in pasture and even going out to the far end, he slowly started limping over rocks less and less and moved more confidently over the rocky areas with normal strides instead of tiny baby steps. He became completely sound in his boots for trails and training sessions. Even going as far as to FINALLY be sound in a sand arena with nothing at all. Something I never thought would happen. He had previously been on as much biotin I could throw at him and countless herbal supplements to back it up. Nothing worked until Strength and Stamina.
I will stand by the company for as long as they continue to provide such amazing and quality products. They may be expensive, but expense is relative to me as long as it actually works. And it does.
